John M. Etcheson


etcheson-johnJohn Etcheson is a retired minister for the Community of Christ. Prior to retirement, his most recent assignment was Brush Creek USA Mission Center, president, 2003-2010. He holds the priesthood office of Evangelist.

During earlier phases of ministry, John has served in the following offices:  Teacher, Priest, Elder, and High Priest.  He has also served as a missionary specialist in Southeastern Illinois District. His congregational ministry included service as: Pastor, Counselor, Worship, Church School; Leadership, Youth, Missionary Specialist.

A native of Flora, Illinois, Etcheson has an associate’s degree from Graceland College followed by a bachelor’s degree in education from Central Missouri State. He has also had training in MBO seminars, leadership development, and time management.

Prior to accepting full-time ministry, Etcheson was a regional sales manager for in Coral Springs, Florida. He has won awards in both sales and development, including membership in the President’s Club, and President’s Club with Monarch.

Making his current home in Salem IL, Etcheson has traveled in the United States. He also enjoys cycling, reading, walking, and hiking. He and his wife, Janet (deceased), have two children, Tim and Anne and two grandchildren, Taylor and Connor Etcheson.

John enjoys the teaching aspects of ministry.

In the community, John is active with Rotary, Lions, and the Plano Chamber of Commerce.

Educationally, John has earned a B.S. Education, and is a member of the  National Association of Certified Natural Health Professionals & a Certfied Nutritional Consultant
