Luray McArthur

Luray McArthur holds the priesthood office of Elder in the Community of Christ.  She was ordained to this office in 1987, after having served in the Aaronic office of Priest.

Luray has held a number of leadership roles in the church.  Within the congregation, she has served as Women’s Leader, Christian Education Commissioner, Librarian, Secretary, Assistant Youth Leader,  Youth Sunday School Teacher, Historian, Counselor to the Pastor, and Pastor.  Within the Central Illinois District, she has served in the roles of District Historian, Secretary, and Temple School Director.

Luray presently lives in Decatur Illinois.  Her current responsibilities in the Decatur congregation include: Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader, and Librarian.  She also serves the Central IL District as Historian and Secretary.

She credits her Temple School courses, and district and local workshops and retreats, with her preparations for ministry.  She enjoys being involved in the lives of people in the local congregation and around the district.

During her service within the church, she has ministered in Springfield IL, Beardstown IL, Taylorville IL, Pana IL, Independence MO, Champaign IL, Brush Creek Campgrounds, and a reunion in Ontario Canada.

Her favorite scripture is John 3:16.  Her message to you is:  “Jesus is your best friend, and he loves you.  He died for all!”
